The Swiss Transport Research Conference (STRC) has been a cornerstone of multidisciplinary knowledge exchange and innovation in transportation and land use since 2001. Bringing together academics, researchers, and practitioners from Switzerland and beyond, STRC fosters collaboration and drives progress in all transportation-related fields.
The year 2025 marks the 25th edition of the STRC. This milestone coincides with a transportation landscape that is rapidly evolving, presenting both significant challenges and remarkable opportunities. Climate imperatives demand cleaner and more efficient mobility systems, while urbanization strains existing infrastructure and calls for innovative approaches to mobility and accessibility. Technological advancements, including automation, electrification, and data analytics, offer potential solutions but also raise critical questions about equity, safety, and societal impacts.
For over two decades, STRC has consistently served as a platform for advancing cutting-edge research, influencing transportation practices, and shaping policy directions both in Switzerland and internationally. This 25th edition offers a unique opportunity to reflect on lessons learned and accomplishments of the past, while addressing the pressing research questions of today and preparing for the challenges of tomorrow.
We warmly invite submissions for this landmark edition of STRC, taking place from May 14–16, 2025, at Monte Verità in Ascona, Switzerland.

Bilge Atasoy is an associate professor in Delft University of Technology and working towards adaptive transport and logistics systems. Her research lies at the intersection of operations research, behavioral modeling and learning algorithms.
She is the recipient of ERC Starting Grant and runs other national and international projects. Prior to joining TU Delft, Bilge was a research scientist at the Intelligent Transportation Systems Lab at MIT where she managed projects on real-time optimization as well as choice-based optimization for various transport systems. Bilge received her PhD from EPFL as part of the Transport and Mobility Lab and prior to that she studied at Bogazici University, Türkiye.
Andreas W. Schäfer is a Professor of Energy and Transport at the School of Environment, Energy and Resources, University College London, where he directs the Air Transportation Systems Laboratory. His research covers the demand for and supply characteristics of energy and transportation systems along with their integration.
Alex Torday is a veteran member of the Aimsun team and has been with the company since 2005. Before becoming CEO, Alex led Aimsun strategic operations, and prior to that, he was head of global professional services for 15 years, successfully launching and developing Aimsun business activities across Australia, New Zealand, and the Asia-Pacific region.
